 "Great Joystick" 2010-10-14
By NDarchery
Great joystick for adjustability. Love the ability to fold down and quick disconnect for breakdown with out being overly fragile. Would have given it five stars if it wasn't for the fact that the adjustment point to lengthen the hand grip has a little pivot in it fore and aft.

"Short Term Gain. Long Term Lost" 2010-09-28
By R. Yamada (NAF Atsugi, JP)
Lets see.. I'm not going to sugar coat the good over the bad first, so i'm just going to say it. The Cyborg X is just what the above title says. In the short term, this flight stick is excellent for the average flight sim enthusiast. Long term wise, the flight stick has become unresponsive and the Z axis is now zero'd all the way right. You heard me. I can point and touch the stick without moving it and it automatically yaws to the right. I tried everything to zero out the yaw but all were fails. When I opened the bottom to check on the wiring, I found the z axis wiring and sensor and found that everything was solder on and glued over it and nothing was snagged and/or loose. As I moved said wires, the band started to fluctuate with every touch of the wires. Easy fix? probably....If thats indeed the problem. It could whatever is sensing yaw movement, but that's not the point. The point is that I had this for a little over 8 months and now broken. Yeah, I love to taxi in circles and I love when it randomly kicks in mid flight when I strafe a target on FC2. The other point i'm trying to make (and this should apply more to the average customer) is that you shouldn't go through what I am currently going through. The product should work without you (the average user)having to open it up and troubleshoot it. I'm not alone on this issue either as others seem to completely lose the Z axis or buttons become inoperable. This would be the main reason why I recommend either the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, or the Saitek AV8R. Don't let the simplicity of that one fool you. It is perfect for the average user and all the way to below a flight sim power user with the dual throttle support. I can't speak for the hardcore folk on what I recommend since I never had one of those fancy flight control suites.

Now this ain't ALL bad. The throttles were nice, the buttons were plentiful and I like the idea that you could adjust the size of the flight stick and adjust the angles of the stick and head as well as even the Hat switch. When it did work, it worked like a charm. Responsive when I needed it to be but I was able to produce precise adjustments although the playing field of the z axis twist was a little wide but it wasn't a problem.

so to conclude, You are buying what appears to be a great flight stick but based on my report and based on what others have typed about it on here and more flight sim oriented sites, the chances of you buying a lemon over a gem are considerably high. Get the already proven winners instead. I personally recommend the AV8R if you're flying a sim that lets you have control of multiple engines but if that doesn't weigh in for you, I recommend the Extreme 3D Pro. Power users, you have your choices...I'm not sure if I want to invest in Saitek's X-65 or just wait for the Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog. heck, I might just go back to the Extreme 3D Pro and wait for the verdict for the Warthog before buying (or not).

"Saitek products are terrible quality." 2010-09-19
By Naked Squirrel
I purchased this stick less than 1 year ago and it has flat out died on me. The sensors started to fade over time, and the twist sensor died only a few months into the life of the stick. It has easy to access buttons, and a nice dual throttle, but who really cares when the stick only lasts a few months? I was amazed, this thing just quit on me and died. I should have payed more attention to reviews. Saitek makes highly adjustable products out of very flimsy materials. The rumors about these products being very cheap and flimsy are true. I've been careful with it as not to break any parts, but apparently even the internal sensors and parts are made out of poor quality materials as well. I would not recommend anyone buy these joysticks if you plan on using it for more than a year. I took very good care of it and it still died on me. Terrible piece of hardware.

"Excellent but did not last" 2010-09-18
By TM FOOT
This is an excellent stick, the base feels a bit flimsy but has never been a problem even with my wild driving actions in TrackMania United (car racing game). I have never had a centering problem like I had with 2 previous sticks (1 older saitek & 1 other brand). It has a stiff centering spring that takes a little getting accustomed to but it actually helps to snap the vehicle back to straight ahead immediately. It is very adjustable to fit most user's hands and preferences, both physcal adjustments & software.

I have owned this stick for 8 months and the only problem I have had until today was that the X/Y pivot gets a little rough acting. A small amount of silicone lube gets it back in action.

Unfortunately it died today!!! Windows will no longer recognize it. I will be contacting Saitek for warranty replacement. Also I have ordered another identical stick.

 "Wonderful" 2010-07-16

I've got two words for you. Great joystick! I'm not one for reviews, to be honest, but I've enjoyed this so much that I felt I had to write a little something about it. First off, it's pretty responsive. There's a slight dead zone in the center, but with the right adjustment, you'll never notice. The throttle controls are great, even more responsive then the stick.

As for function, there are over 12 different buttons on this thing, not including the hat-switch or throttle controls, and out of the box this little beauty comes with software to customize each and every one. The software can be a little confusing though, so I would recommend Xpadder. [...] It's free, and I've used it with tons of other USB controls, works great. One thing though, don't bother looking for a picture of this particular joystick, there isn't one yet. (Not at the time I'm writing this, anyway.) If anyone finds or makes one, please feel free to post a link to it in the comments. I'd love a copy myself. ^_^ )

Now, when it comes to form, you'll love it even more. The Cyborg X is, like almost all Saitek products, fully customizable. You can adjust it to any ergonomic setting you need. There is a pair of small, but powerful, blue LEDs set in the top of the stick. These shine down upon the hat-switch and the four thumb-buttons, giving you a pretty good idea of what's what, no matter the lighting. (Plus it just looks sweet, surprised me when I first plugged it in, since there is nothing on the box or website which says anything about LEDs.)

There are two more little features that help the Cyborg X stand out. One is how portable it is. The stick unscrews from the base pretty easily, which really reduces the profile and lets you carry the entire thing in a backpack or computer bag without fear of breaking it off the stand. The second is the fact that the base folds up, reducing the size even more. It also makes it a lot easier to store on your desktop when it's not in use.

Reading this for spelling errors, I'm surprised how much I wrote. O_o Well, this lovely little piece deserves it, I won't be looking for any other 'sticks while this still works. One last note though, and I only mention this because I was stupid enough to do it. I know it's common buyer-sense, but shop around for the best price. I bought mine at Best Buy, and when I saw it here on amazon, I was surprised to see it cheaper. Not by much, but still, it's a lower price.

Happy gaming!
