 "Perfect Buy!" 2010-08-23
By John Faulconer
Great value for money, works for home parties and etc., works well with bass, and very customizable! The wires connecting the pod are a little short.. but by using telephone wire to extend the wires, I can place the pods anywhere in the room I want! What else do you want?!

 "awesome" 2010-08-05

these are great, they work well with music. they do require alot of bass to work better, and i wish the wires were a little longer. but overall i am very satisfied

 "There are FIVE lights!" 2010-06-08
By Geoffrey Raye (Chicago, IL USA)
When I bought these, I thought there were only four lights. However, after some private time with Gul Madred, I learned that there were really FIVE lights.

 "Fun, but weak" 2010-06-04
By Jeff (NJ)
First of all, because this information is not available ANYWHERE ELSE on the web - trust me, I looked - here are the dimensions of one pod: 4.75" wide, edge to edge. 5.5" wide, corner to corner. And 5" deep. I have no idea why that's so difficult for anyone else to provide, so there you go. You're welcome. Now, on to an actual review...

Initial impression, right out of the box, these things look and feel cheap. As another reviewer commented, they do not slide together smoothly. Some connections are too loose, others too tight. Also, the clear plastic covering the LEDs is also entirely too thin, and positioned in the wrong place; it's behind the "silver" (it's plastic, but painted to look like metal) frame, instead of the front. I think that was a poor decision.

And, the cords are too short, needlessly limiting the flexibility of arrangements. You might think you could arrange the lights in "any" configuration, but that's not the case. If you wanted to put all four lights in a row, for example, with the control box at one end, you cannot do that, as each wire is only long enough to span the width of two pods. Therefore, whatever arrangement you choose, the control box needs to be in the center.

My initial quality impression was clearly not a good one, BUT, that's because I hadn't turned them on! Once these things are doing their thing, I have to say, they are awesome, and ridiculously fun. I cannot believe how much I enjoy them. They respond to music fantastically, and even though I had bought them specifically for Rock Band, but I find myself turning them on even just listening to CDs. I like them so much, I've mounted them on the wall. They look great, and now that I'm not actually touching them, all signs of their cheap construction have become almost entirely unnoticeable.

I bought two sets of four, and I'm glad I did. I'm actually considering buying more! They do have their flaws, and I felt it fair you be made aware of them, but nevertheless, they're definitely worth buying - especially more than one set!

 "Mixed feelings ." 2010-05-29
By K. Patterson (Michigan)
I had mixed feelings with these lights because they did not seem to hit the notes on tune with Rockband ? I think it may be because I only ordered one set . I think if you do order some of these lights , you should consider ordering the bigger set or at least two sets of the four lights. Didn't light up the room as I expected..

"not good for vent and gaming" 2010-08-28
By McLovin
I really disliked the location of the thumb buttons. I found it very hard to use the forward thumb button as my push to talk on vent while playing games. It took too much pressure and was not in a user friendly place. I sold it after a few hours to a friend of mine for $[...] bucks less than I bought it for so I could buy a copperhead off ebay (much better but older version of lachesis and out of production)

 "love it" 2010-08-05
By Timothy B., Anderson Jr.
love the mouse. it's great. needed a new mouse because my wireless logitec died on me so looking around i bought this as it glows red like my Saitek keyboard. it works great. really smooth motions and never skips a beat. you can store different profiles on it as some may not like how high up the sensitivity is. i have noticed that since i went from Vista to windows 7 it seems to not turn on when powering on my computer. i then have to restart and power back on my computer and it usually picks up. i may have to just check the drivers so it may not be an issue. anyways i like it a lot. works how it's supposed to. great for gaming and everyday use.

 "I love this thing!!" 2010-08-03
By Che' Dunkley (Ocoee, Florida United States)
I just got my mouse and immediately jumped into Quake Live. I didn't have to get used to this mouse. It just felt natural to me.

I'm kind of a mouse freak. I would buy a mouse, and sell it almost instantly if I didn't like it. The last 2 good mice I used were the Razer Copperhead Tempest(button died) and Logitech G5 between 2008 - 2010. I recently sold my laptop a long with the mice.

I bought a new Laptop and recently purchased a Microsoft Sidewinder X8. The mouse itself performed well, but I could not get used to the weight of the mouse. It was also very slippery when my hands would perspire. I would have to hold the mouse extra tight, because of the weight when having to lift it. My fingers would start to ache badly after 1 hr of fragging. I couldn't stand it anymore, so I opted to buy another mouse.

I was very very skeptical about buying a Lachesis, because I read tons of horror stories online about the mouse jumping all over the screen or just simply dying on them. I'm here to tell ya, i'm very satisfied with this purchase. It will be in my arsenal for a while or until something else comes a long that fits me better or this dies. I also love the ambidextrous style of the mouse. Something like the Boomslang I had back in the day.

If you're looking for a new mouse look no further!

 "Still Kickin'!!" 2010-07-24
By eightydee
I've had this mouse for over a year now, I use it everyday! Very responsive! Good for Photoshop, gaming, and general surfing.

Pros:

The color (My setup is red/black and I do not want to mixed up the colors. I too use the Saitek Eclipse Red keyboard)

The texture (Feels grippy)

The side buttons (used for forward and back in Google Chrome, Change weapons in Call of Duty)

The ability to change the DPI right on the fly, Sometimes I need a faster DPI than I need a more controlled DPI)

The cord (USB cord is light and won't slow you down when you have a bunch of stuff on your desk)

The perfect weight (For me, some people might want a heavier mouse or a lighter mouse)

Cons:

Sometimes it jumps (I'll be walking than all of a sudden I'll be looking at the sky. Firmware update should fix it)

Overall:

This is a great mouse. I went from the Razer Diamondback Salamander Red 1600 DPI to this. Always loved Razer mice and always will! Looking for the Orchi for my ASUS G71 Laptop. I really wish that they made a american Red lighted Razer keyboard but paired with the Razer Lachesis (Wraith Red) and the Saitek Eclipse (Red) it's a GREAT combination. Highly recommend this mouse. For this price! Yea..

"Large but you'll get use to it." 2010-06-18
By Kevin Pugh (Baltimore, MD USA)
Razer Lachesis is a solid mouse doing quite well everything it advertises, Nice cored, gold plated USB 2.0?, Soft plastic finish and feel. Only problems I had with it was that It took some getting use to since my old mouse was rather small and the Lachesis is pretty big, also the software(macros?) that came with the mouse is alittle clumsy and doesn't work on all games actually It hasn't worked on any games thus far. But aside from those two problems which i easily worked around with in a week or so the mouse is grate even for left handers like me.

"Steer clear from anything Razer!" 2010-08-31
By Julian A. Pirano (Syracuse, NY)
I used to be a diehard razer fanboy. I loved their old mouse, the Razer Copperhead. I used one of those until the clicker ceased to click. Being an FPS and RTS player, I need a mouse with good twitch and smoothness. For the price, the lachesis does not live up to the hype.

After only 1 year of regular average use, my lachesis moves without being touched as in, the mouse pointer flys around the screen without any input from me. Just about everytime my computer boots up, the mouse is not recognized or it just wont move, so I have to replug its USB in over and over.

Ontop of this, the mouse is just shaped horribly. You know how when something is designed to be okay for everyone, it ends up being good for nobody? Thats this mouse. Its ergonomic shape is designed for leftys and rightys, making us righty majority fumble around with a mouse that just feels uncomfortable.

Overall, if I could give this mouse a score it would be a zero. If I could give Razer a score, it would be -1.

I truly love this product. When I first got it, I wasn't sure how the ergonomics felt because I wasn't used to it. Now I can't imagine using anything else and its ambidextrous.

 "cant live without" 2010-08-12
By Adam
I got this mouse when I bought my Alienware Aurora M9700, and have had it for a little over 3 years now. This mouse is by far the best mouse I've ever used, I've taken it on vacation with me to me places. I don't ever brag but when it comes to this mouse, I literally complain when I do not have it where ever I am. I've used this mouse almost every day since I got it and amazingly it has had no defects and has NOT worn out the buttons, it looks exactly the same as I got it out of its box.

If you have never used this mouse you absolutely don't know what a quality mouse is.

 "Poorly Shaped" 2010-07-21
By Anonymous
I had previously owned a Razer Copperhead mouse which I loved and am still continuing to use. However, after 3 years of use it was starting to act a bit funny, so I decided to purchase a new mouse. The Lachesis looked to be the most similar current model to the Copperhead. However, the shape of the mouse it awful. The body is too long, too low, and too wide. Because the body is so long, you have to move your hand very far forward to use it, and because the profile is low, you can't rest your hand on the mouse because but have to keep hovering over it in a very uncomfortable position. Also, the body is too wide. On the Copperhead I can tuck my thumb and pinky under the sides to move the mouse, but on this one you have to splay your finger much wider to reach the sides. I'm a guy and have big hands and this was still a problem for me.

The main buttons are also very stiff and require a lot of force to click. After an hour or two of use in a day my hand and wrist would start to really hurt and remain sore for a long time. I've never had a similar problem with any other mouse. Razer makes good mice, just don't buy the Lachesis. I will be returning mine.

 "Razer lachesis ups downs" 2010-06-21
By Grant A. Rogers
the Razer Lachesis is the ultimate Fps (first Person Shooter) mouse.

UPs

Complete customization of all keys

4000 DPi

custom polling rate(makes less response time)

easy driver interface

easy to clean

allows perfect grip for both hands

Downs

scripting tool causes only the script to be run rending the mouse useless while running the file

doesn't work on all mouse pads

needs excessively clean surface

does not work with small hands (if i were 15 this mouse wouldn't fit my hand)

i would give this mouse a 4.5
