The CH pro Pedals is an excellent addition to the flight control of advanced users. The uneventful use is fine with one acception. The to foot slide is not in unison with the other in braking during landing. The force can cause you to skid. You must pump brake for control as you would in car to control this but. the best way is to work at holding brakes both down at once with one other acception. The brakes are very sensitive to push even with out intending to. The way to stop this is technical. You must adjust the rollers in tooth of each foot by one tooth. This will give you the play you need to give you the dimmer switch jiggle before activation for bright lights in a car. The other way is to try and get the Windows sensitivity to slow this down by adjusting this play there. Slowing sensitivity may not stop activation just pressure on this. The experimentation may be your best bet on this. Ask the service folks at CH if you do not feel comfortable with the pedal adjustment I made. The unit feels just like the real thing then.

Bottom Line, there are not too many choices for "real" flight pedals unless you can build them yourself. I think besides Saitech's, these are it.



I have used these pedals extensively for IL2, and have not had a problem with them yet.



These pedals:



1) Install easily on XP

2) Have a 7' cord giving you ample length to hook them up

3) Have a solid base (you may need to add some gripping rubber to hold them in place)

4) Large pedals to accommodate large feet and shoes

5) Enough weight and resistance to avoid jerky movements

5) Brake function

6) Accuracy



Not sure what else you need.



They could have even more resistance and smoother glide, I guess, but that would be extra frosting on a pretty nice cake.



For a flight sim I would recommend you get, in this order:



1) A good quality joystick

2) Track IR

3) These Pedals



Now, that ends up being around $300 or so all told, but if you are serious about your sim, it will be worth it. If you are a little bit more relaxed about it, you might want to look for a cheaper set, like in a steering wheel set, which could cost you $50 or less. Before these pedals I used ones from such a driving set that only cost me $20 on sale.

I've really enjoyed having rudder pedals for additional realism in my X-plane flight sim for Mac and these get the job done. My initial response to them was not so great because they have a kind of, I don't know, rut they get into when they are centered, so it takes additional effort to push them out of center position before you can control them smoothly. This bugged me because it's not like the real thing, but I can see that it would be hard to keep them centered otherwise. With some practice, I've been able to get over it a bit and in X-plane you can assign a "null zone" where control input doesn't have any affect, so that helps prevent jarring movements in the game as you try to push the pedals out of the rut.



I also do not like that they have a lip at the bottom of the pedals to hold your foot up. This, again, is not like the real thing and normally you keep your feet on the floor (like in driving a car) when you're flying an airplane and don't need the brakes, but again with a little practice you can get used to this. The pedals do push down at the top for braking (at the risk of sounding redundant, this too is not like the real thing, but that's okay). The pedals come with two odd looking pieces of plastic you can place in the pedal tracks to convert them for use in driving games, which is a nice touch. With those pieces in place, the pedals will not move and you can use then for gas and brake pedals.



Bottom line--like most electronic gadgets I've bought, these pedals are not as cool as I had expected they would be, but they get the job done. I would recommend them if you want to add an additional layer of realism to your flight sim for flight training or just the cool feeling of taxiing a 747 to the runway.

Bought this as a Christmas present for my 11 yr old son. After more than 3 months of almost daily use it still functions like the day he unwrapped it. Nothing negative to report about these pedals.
