Yeah it is good and all, but the only thing i do not like about it is that it wont work with the chatpad because there isnt just one hole. there are those little black things on it. i wish they would have made it possible for the chat pad to be able to work on it. Especially when you are writing messagaes and it takes forever for you to just write one back and forth and back and forth. I dnt really make reviews i dont have time for them, but i really wish they would have made that little part there. It would have been so much better.

This isn't meant to be a very technical review, but I will share my opinion with hope that I can answer some questions that I had when reviewing these headphones.
I've been using these headphones mainly for PC and PS3 games. For those of you with intention of using these with an xbox 360, be warned you will need to purchase a specific xbox360 adapter for the optical audio (I would have tested MW2 already if I had the xbox360 connection). The PS3 has and most newer PC motherboards even have the optical audio connection. If you're really serious about having amazing PC audio, you might consider an aftermarket sound card ... but then again, if you ARE really serious, you'd be buying an ACTUAL 5.1 system and not just headphones.
These aren't meant for stereo sound and only do a mediocre job at best when just listening to music, unless you connect the 5.1 analog adapter and use the orange (center and sub channel), then it sounds better. I haven't compared these to any other gaming headset, but I have no complaints on the sound quality. You do have the ability to adjust the volume of the front, center, rear and sub channels which is very handy for getting the sound just right. You can go further and adjust other settings, but I haven't tinkered with that.
These headphones are also very comfortable. Most of the weight is on top of your head and not on or over your ears which greatly reduces ear fatigue. I have used them for 3+ hours with little discomfort!
Take note that these are in no way noise canceling headphones. If you have the volume down low, you will be able to hear what's going on around you, and those around you might hear what you are listening to if you've got the volume up very high. That's not a big problem though.
I've used the mic over Skype and in games such as SC2 and have had people comment on the good quality of the sound of my voice. It's nice that the mic is detachable, but honestly, it's never really in the way and I never detach it.
The headphones themselves glow green, quite brightly. This is a nice feature if you're trying to impress people with cool hardware, but it's annoying to have them sitting beside my bed on my desk at night when I'm trying to sleep -- an acceptable annoyance.
The mess of cables isn't really an issue considering I already have a mess of cables on my desk where I have a PC, PS3 and Xbox360. If you are worried about the mess of cables, you might consider purchasing a longer optical cable as the supplied one is quite short (approx 2 feet). This way you can have the adapter and all the cables hidden somewhere. The cable from the headphone is very long, so don't worry about that.
One last note, this purchase was a shot in the dark. I had never heard of Sharkoon before and am quite pleased. I was debating over this and the TRITTON AXPRO and chose these. I don't regret my decision!

I've had the Sharkoon X-Tatic True 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound Gaming Headset for about a month. This is my first gaming headset. So let me start off with it takes a few days getting use to. I wasn't use to all the sounds being next to my ear instead of across the room and the weight of the headset. If you've already had a gaming headset than those wouldn't be factors for you. The adjustable volume cord is a little clumsy getting to but comes with a clip so you can clip it anywhere I just forget to. lol. I haven't had any problems with the mic it actually picks me up clearly even when away from my mouth (so that i can eat and not ruin it). Its a great product no static, clear audio, you can separately adjust game and chat volumes.
Now when it comes to movies it wonderful all new experience for me. I'm not usually big on HDTV and Surround sound but this makes me want to get better equipment so i can really see what this thing does since I'm already beyond pleased with this product.
I'm a hardcore gamer. I spend hours upon hours upon hours playing video games each day. And this has greatly increased my skill. I can hear foot steps of people sneaking up behind me or to my left or above or below me. I can hear bombs being planted or defused. I can hear people spawning if I'm close enough. Even in single player games it does that extra push that brings you totally into the world of the game. I felt like I was the main character at times until my cell phone rings and breaks my concentration.
The only cons I have to this headset are that there are a few wires which took some getting use to since I was a wireless gamer until I got this headset and a new wired controller and the fact that the volume control is a few inches further away than I would of liked.

I bought these as a substitute for a surround sound system to go with my ps3. I didn't want to disturb the neighbors when I watched movies or played games.
Setup was pretty easy- adjusting the sound settings through the ps3, and plugging in everything. Yes there are a few wires, but it wasn't unmanageable or confusing. The headphone wire is long enough for me - I sit approximately 15 feet away from the ps3,
The sound is pretty good- I've watched The Hurt Locker, Transformers, and quite a few other movies that sounded excellent through these Sharkoons. Video games are even better- I played through Assassin's Creed 2, and both Uncharted games, and these headphones really enhance the whole experience. Overall, the sound is clear, gives you a sense of direction (the source of the sounds), and you pick up on subtle noises you would have missed before. Explosions and low sounds don't get lost in the mix, as there is some bass to the sound as well. Only a few times have I felt like the sound was bad (sounded muffled/tinny)- but I think it was more in the game than the headphones.
I haven't used the online communication or microphone features yet, so I can't comment on those.
The headphones are comfortable. They may be on the heavy side, but they are well padded, not too tight, and are adjustable. I haven't had any problems with neck pain, headaches, sweaty ears, or any of the stuff people complain about with similar headphones... and I've worn them for extended periods of time.

Bought those mainly to use with my ps3.Of course you must know that there is tons of wires.
Will i do have a huge head and these babes can fit nicely, with the most comfort i ever had with a headset.
As for setting up the manual provides you with every thing you need to know about." I never read manual's but this time OMG" So for the RTFM guys this is the only time it will really worth it. ;-)
sound quality is great but it took me some time to fine tune to get the best sound for my taste, you must note that these can never be compared to a proper sound system, tough they do the job quite nicely. In general i love the sound of the x-tatic but there is one thing that i don't,which is during different game's you will find your self doing some adjustment's for the sound channels -front,rear,center and sub- I even wondered why didn't I study some thing in sounds tech.but in time maybe i will figure out what are all those setting's for.-ie.time delay-
Let's talk about the games i tested so far,MW2 is the main reason i bought these and now there is a huge improvement in my game play.i can pick up the tinny noises now -need some work with my reaction time tough-now it's easy for me to detect my enemy's and when playing in relatively quite maps-no back ground noise-it seems like my life is lot easier than before-You must know what are you listening for to get great result's-.
Assassins Creed 2 just blow my mind with the sound's quality, there is sound's i did't know about.i can hear the crowds and pin point where they are from the roof top's with no sight at all, remember the bit when you go after a mugger and hunt him down? now i dont need to look for my map to catch him, even when he is out of my visual range.
And for red dead players there is A whole new game play exp. waiting for you with the x-tatic.
Enough about the sound quality you all get the idea.
Build quality is a huge plus for the sharkoons, maybe there is a thing or two i don't like about them, first there is the mic it self it feels like it's little bit short in length with a superb sound quality so it's nothing really, the other thing is the center in line control unit and the SCU unit materials feels some how cheep.
compared to the axpro the sharkoon has much better build quality for me.
The price tag: for me the price was a lot for some not so known brand - for my self at least -but know i can say that i'am very happy i have the x-tatic and can report that I am one happy x-tatic owner and will buy the upcoming headsets from this manufacturer what ever the price tag says.
my rating for this product is 9.3/10
