Putting this headset on for the first time... is like putting marshmallows on your ears, except you can't eat it. (well I'm sure you can try) Also has great sound quality.

I was stoked on these headphones when I got them. They have good sound quality, a little bassy for my taste, but not bad at all. I got them because they got great reviews for comfort, and decent sound. They do have good sound and are extrememly comfortable. That said, MINE LASTED 11 MONTHS until they are unacceptable for gaming. The speakers are now uneven in volume and get scratchy when turned up. It seems the problem is in the volume inline switch, as it sometimes works, but mostly cuts in and out, a bummer when I am trying to guage where people are in mw2. Perhaps its because my wife and I use them a few hours a day, but I don't think they should have stopped working this fast. I am happy with the performance for the time they worked, but I think I will go to a different brand for the replacements. Wish I bought the extended warranty I was offered when I bought them, but why should I have to pay extra, they should make a quality product that lasts at least a year.

After fumbling through several other cheap headsets I finally decided to spend a little more to get something quality without going overboard on price. I've traditionally been very happy with Razer products so as opposed to going with a Logitech, Turtle Beach, etc. I went with the Razer Carcharias. The first thing I noticed was the level of comfort. These ear cups are large enough to surround and hug your ears no matter how large they are. The material, though a dust magnet, surrounding the ear cups are amazingly soft. If I had to describe it, I would call it a felt towel. The padding on the top band of the headphones are large and plus. The overall weight of the headphones is pretty light adding to the overall comfort.
The mic is quite small and cannot be adjusted in length. It can be adjusted in angle though (Up and down, even far enough if you want the mic on the right and also fore and aft). I am still fumbling with voice settings in Ventrillo to get it to work consistently while voice-activated. It works phenomenally on Skype. Like with any headset, once you switch you're going to have to spend some time readjusting your audio settings for your mic, so it's to be expected.
Like other reviews have noted, the bass is essentially non-existent. It's equivalent to a stock pair of iPod earbuds. It's not really a deal breaker for me as I have used headphones with too much bass and it ended up giving me a headache. I have yet to find a decent headset that provides good bass for under $100, so if the bass is an issue definitely invest in a higher end headset.
Can most people make due with a cheaper headset? Yes.
Sound Quality? Average for a sub $100 headset.
Comfort? The most comfortable sub $100 headset I've used, which definitely makes it worth it's price.

I thought it was just a good buy because it was stylish and maybe because it had good sound but there is more then meets the eye here, the sound quality is amazing ive been hearing things in songs that I never heard, just a couple minutes before I hooked up the earphones the cord is also made so it doesn't tangle. The noise canceling is amazing also i never imagined something could be so clear and still block out outside sound I had someone stand next to me and talk normally and i had the mic on 1/4 of the volume and my computer volume on about 55% and I could barely hear them at all. On top of that the comfort is amazing its beyond me how they got such great quality performance and style all into them. And finally what really did it for me that made me suggest this as a definite buy is their packaging very nicely done even comes with a cardboard stand that's bright green and black and some stickers. So over all id give this a 9/10 only reason I say 9 is because there was no lights that i seen =\ but still a very good buy! And I would recommend it to anyone who needs a pair of earphones and can afford it.

Cloth cabling, metal construction. Its really quite nice. I'd even listen to music in them.
