Before buying this mouse, I had been using the same Microsoft Optical Blue mouse for nearly 9 years. To be honest, the conversion after using the same mouse was slightly unpleasant. But, after having been using this mouse for nearly a week now, I have come to really appreciate what it offers.
The games I play are Team Fortress 2, Star Craft II, and Counter Strike, and it is easy for me to say that this mouse has made me more competitive. Whats changed?
-On the fly sensitivity control has opened the door to playing Sniper on TF2, a class that I was never good at. To be able to go from a high DPI for a class like Pyro or Scout, to low DPIs for Sniper has given me the ability to conquer nearly every hurdle that came with the lack of control I felt with my old mouse.
-The scroll wheel is soooo nice, there are no worries about loosing control when it's not in free wheel mode. This may be a small detail, but it's the small details that make the deal so much sweeter.
-The weights and the pads on the the bottom of the mouse let you control how much lift resistance you want, and slide beautifully on either your desk or mouse pad. (I'm using an older cloth mouse pad, and it works great.)
-Lastly, the body choices where just perfect for ME. There are 2 bodies or "skins" I guess that can be changed out depending on how you want to rest your hand on the mouse. I have found that the second body that came in the box was very well suited for my claw/pinching mouse gaming style. But the original body does seem well suited for a palm player I would assume.
There are other features, such as onboard programmable macros that can be made on the computer, but I have yet to try that out. There is also the feature with which you can change the color of the sensitivity lights on the mouse, which is cool, but its more like icing on the cake.
Overall, I'm enjoying this mouse. Would I recommend it to a person who isn't an avid PC gamer? Probably not. This mouse is pricey, and I only picked it up because I thought I could be more competitive playing the games that I enjoy (maybe too much).
I hope this review was helpful, and feel free to respond if you have any questions!
Thanks.

I'm a fingertip/claw grip type user, and this mouse fits my usage well.
When I was in the market for a gaming mouse, I compared G9x, G500 as well as the Razer Deathadder 3500dpi ver.
Then I narrowed it down to the deathadder vs G9x. In the end, I chose the G9x as it offered a superior comfort and button placement for my fingertip grip type. The deathadder was a tad too large and provided awkward finger placements for my tastes.
I've previously used a junky $10 3-button Logitech mouse for well over 6 years for gaming, so this mouse is a great step up.
The dpi adjustment is simple and effective. I use 3200DPI for general websurfing and 3600DPI during gaming sessions. I think the 5600dpi it offers is cool, but very much unusable for most applications. However, the best part is that you can adjust the dpi ranges by small increments, and save up to 3 profiles INTO the mouse, rather than into the software! Speaking of Logitech's Setpoint2 software, it is very intuitive and offers EVERYTHING and more you need to customize/adjust about this mouse! This is also the place where you can change the LED colors.
Of the two grips provided, I do like both. However, the precision grip is what I use during gaming sessions. It is a smaller grip and the thumbrest/ring finger rest area is textured and firm. During webbrowsing sessions, I like to use the slightly larger grip. It offers a better thumbrest as well as larger, easier to press thumb buttons.
My only real complain is the scroll wheel. Yes that thing. Like many others have mentioned, it is quite stiff you won't be able to easily press it without firmly gripping the mouse from both sides first. The good news is that you adjust to it over time. Also good news is that if you enable hyperscrolling from the button on the bottom of the mouse, the middle mouse button click becomes alot easier to press. But since the hyperscroll is on, you might mistakenly scroll up/down.
A little on the expensive side, but buying used/refurb for half the price is a killer deal! Almost no regrets!

Pros:
Comfortable
Customizable
Great performance
Lots of buttons
Great wheel scroll
Cons:
Expensive when not on sale
Sometimes the dpi changer button gets hit while in fast paced games
Last one lasted only 3 years (g9 model)
If you can get a g9 for cheaper than the g9x then I suggest the g9. The only difference is that the g9x has a higher max resolution that almost no one would use.

Was a little nervous about buying this refurbished mouse from seller but turned out to be a good buy. Item arrived on time and as described. Just wish it had also came in manufactorer box but that is no biggie. Would buy from this seller again.

This product with the interchangeable grips might be comfortable to some, but I keep thinking of previous mice I owned. I used the precision grip, since I found it more comfortable. The surface of the precision grip reminds me of a mouse from the 1980s with its outer texture. The comfort grip I found a little less appealing in shape than a logitech MX 700. I hope a few more grips are produced such as an ergonomic grip for large hands. The settings for the mouse can be changed while using programs through the mouse resolution toggle, the profile button, or a profile can be set to change automatically. The weights just help with keeping the mouse usable at the highest resolutions by giving the mouse a bit more inertia to suit personal taste. If this mouse is on sale give it a whirl otherwise there are many good products out there.
