Keyboards, for me, are simply tools to get things done on a computer, whether its creating documents for work, or creating mayhem in a game. I require a keyboard with smooth typing and keys that are sized just right. The ability to create a macro assigned to the key isn't that important to me; there are programs that do that.
For typing, I did not like this keyboard at all. The keys feel as if they are springed, which isn't the case as far as I can tell. The function keys are considerably small and uncomfortable to use if the game you are playing uses function keys (e.g. EVE Online). Of course, I could assign those keys to the macro keys, but when you have only six keys to work with before you have to press another key to access more, it's not worth it.
I'm going to stick with my Razer Naga and Logitech G13 gameboard, both of which feel good in my hands and have more programmable keys to work with. I'll use this SideWinder as a backup.

This keyboard I ordered turned out to be the best thing I could have gotten for my computer needs. No lag in typing plus is make gaming pretty easy. I recommend this as a versatile keyboard for all your needs.

I don't know if the keys are smaller or there are just so many of them that I make more mistakes (I'm a touch typist). But there's certainly a lot here, and I know of no other keyboard that let's you do so much. The price seems to me to be very reasonable, so the real question is whether you need all the things it can offer or prefer a less cluttered keyboard.

Pros:
This keyboard is in the class of $100 keyboards. The construction quality is great, the keys have excellent back lighting and the typing feels really good.
The keys have just the right amount of resistance and don't feel mushy or rattly.
The light doesn't leak out and the keyboard looks clean.
Anti-ghosting is an excellent feature. Six macro keys (more than enough for most).
Overall, this is clearly one of the best options for this price range and even better than some more expensive $80-$100 keyboards.
Cons:
This isn't really a con for me, but the keys do make a slight tapping noise when being pressed. This doesn't bother me because its not loud, but very picky people might take notice.
The fact that the keys have a solid, good feel to them, makes the sound issue even less of a concern.
Other Thoughts:
The X4 keyboard is a little bit longer than some might think.
It's glossy black and low profile.
The back lighting is excellent and you can set it dimmer or brighter (3 options).
Wrist pad has a cool mesh design and its small enough not to bother you.
Anti-ghosting makes sure you don't miss keystrokes or combinations and this is crucial for gamers and typing alike!

Overall, this keyboard is an excellent product. There are several attractive features that I would highlight:
1. The keyboard has an adjustable backlighting with three illumination levels (plus off). I often work on the computer late at night when everyone else is sleeping, so it is nice to be able to turn off all the lights and keep the house dark.
2. I do a reasonable amount of work with word processing and spreadsheet software. I'm relatively new to using macros, but the macro keys are making it easier and faster for me to do my job without repeating the same commands over and over.
3. The keyboard has a good feel to it. This keyboard feels better than the standard keyboard that came with my desktop computer and it is much more comfortable than the keyboard on my laptop computer.
4. It is a small thing, but I really like having the calculator button on the keyboard. There are a lot of times when I need to perform a simple calculation and it is much easier to push the single button on the keyboard to bring up the calculator than it is to go through the Start menu to find the right program.
In general, this is a good product, but there are a couple of negatives:
1. The media keys work with Windows Media Player, but they don't necessarily work with other software (like iTunes). This isn't too big a deal, but it would be nice if everything could be controlled by those buttons. I should note that this is similar to the keyboard on my laptop.
2. The wrist pad is not removable. Again, this isn't a big deal, but it would be nice if the wrist pad could be removed. I've grown accustomed to not using a wrist pad when I type.
All in all, this is an excellent keyboard and I enjoy using it.
